Repertoire

We do not consider ourselves to be a formal  "Choral Society", of which there are many highly reputable and well established ones in the region. We comprise a cross section of the community with very varied backgrounds and experiences in choral singing, from cathedral and chamber choirs to the rugby ground, kitchen and the bathroom.

We have members who are able to read music and those who have never needed that experience before, but we all work from music scores, learning to recognise the voice parts and helping each other in the process.

The repertoire is mixed in genres to suit the varied tastes of the members. Some more popular, jazz and folk music, scored for three parts and some more challenging works e.g. by John Rutter, Benjamin Britten, Anton Bruckner and Eric Whittacre. Even though a number of our members are not Welsh speakers, we do attempt to sing some pieces in Welsh. We also make an effort to sing in French, Latin, Spanish and Swahili ! when required.
